Hellenic Centre for Disease Control and Prevention

KEELPNO was founded in 1992 as a Legal Entity covered by private law. It is under the control and authority of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity. The organization’s purpose is to coordinate and support public health efforts to monitor and prevent infectious and chronic diseases, accidents and environmental health efforts.

In particular, the main objectives of the organization are:

-       Epidemiologic surveillance and intervention

-   Development of programmes for the dissemination of information, care, nursing and social and psychological support of infected individuals, such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, etc.

-    Planning and materialization of actions for health education, prevention, research, surveillance and treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases

-       Research activities relevant to its aim: protection and promotion of issues related to public health

-     Advisory Board to the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity regarding public health issues and policies.
