WHY TO JOIN E-RARE?

The aim of E-Rare-2 is to foster transnational research on rare diseases in Europe and beyond. E-Rare-2 aims at coordinating the existing rare disease research national programmes and at preparing joint and strategic activities - in particular launching joint transnational calls for research projects on rare diseases - to overcome limitations imposed by scattered funding and resource fragmentation.

Several Joint Transnational Calls have already succesfully been launched by E-Rare (see also “Joint Calls” on our Website) which have included from 6 up to 10 research funding bodies both from inside and outside the E-Rare Consortium.

One important aim of E-Rare-2 is to enlarge the Consortium to achieve a critical mass of European research funding bodies (Research Agencies and/or Ministries). Thus new joining funding bodies will:

  • Take profit of sharing information and exchanging expertise with the partners of the E-Rare Consortium
  • Take part in the E-Rare aim of improving collaboration in rare disease research and participating to joint activities
  • Participate to the fostering of European collaboration and coordinated European approach to map prevalences, build patient registries, identify biomarkers, and develop new diagnostics and new therapeutics for rare diseases
  • Promote / accelerate the development of a national competitive and innovative research community on rare diseases
